Surgery of congenital and juvenile cataracts: a pars plicata approach with the vitrophage.
نویسندگان
چکیده
Eighteen eyes with congenital cataracts were surgically managed by pars plicata lensectomy and vitrectomy using the vitrophage. No major intraoperative or postoperative complications were encountered. All eyes have maintained extremely clear media, attached retinas, and absence of pupillary block during a follow-up period ranging from 12 to 36 months.

Long-term visual results after pars plicata lensectomy-vitrectomy for congenital cataracts.
We performed a pars plicata lensectomy-vitrectomy on 32 patients (47 eyes) with congenital cataracts. Ocular abnormalities, mainly nystagmus, strabismus, and microphthalmia, were present in 29 patients. No complications occurred intraoperatively or postoperatively in 39 eyes with up to 8 1/2 years' follow-up (average 2.2 years). The pars plicata approach is a good surgical technique for the man...

One hundred and eight pupillary membranes treated with the vitrophage through a pars plicata or pars plana approach were evaluated for long-term results. The average follow-up was 3.86 years, with a range of 1 to 7 years. No major operative complications were encountered. Anatomical success was achieved in all cases. Vision improved in 67.5% of eyes. In 4 cases (3.7%) postoperative visual acuit...
متن کاملRetinal detachment with a break at pars plicata associated with congenital malformation of the lens–zonule–ciliary body complex
Retinal detachment with a break at the pars plicata associated with congenital malformation of lens-zonule-ciliary body complex is rare; most reports are of young Japanese male patients with atopic dermatitis. The present case report is the first to describe the condition in a Chinese patient with no atopic dermatitis or trauma history. A 22-year-old male presented with blurred vision in the le...
متن کاملComparison between Limbal and Pars Plana Approaches Using Microincision Vitrectomy for Removal of Congenital Cataracts with Primary Intraocular Lens Implantation
Purpose. To compare the surgical outcomes of limbal versus pars plana vitrectomy using the 23-gauge microincision system for removal of congenital cataracts with primary intraocular lens implantation. Methods. We retrospectively reviewed all eyes that underwent cataract removal through limbal or pars plana incision. Main outcome measures included visual outcomes and complications. Results. We i...
متن کاملSclerotomy for pars plana vitrectomy.
Closed vitrectomy has largely supplanted the 'open sky' method, particularly because it results in minimal interference with the integrity of the globe. Ideally the pars plana sclerotomy should be sufficiently watertight to allow the intraocular pressure to be maintained during surgery without impeding free movement of the vitrectomy instrument within the eye. We describe a sclerotomy technique...
